Clark's Trading Post in Lincoln, NH is hosting a Merit Badge Fair & Scouting Family Fun Day. In addition to the rides and shows that Clark's has to offer, the boys can participate in different age specific presentations that will help fulfill the requirements of their badges. A merit badge councilor will be present to sign off on the presentations. All the presentations will begin at the Scouting Tent and have a limited amount of seating, so book early to reserve your spot.

*Bring your own blue cards for each merit badge you wish to work on.
*Take notice of the prerequisites listed for each presentation, so you will have met all the requirements to complete the badge that day.
*Bring a copy of the work for the prerequisites you have done for each presentation.
CUB SCOUT CLIMBING TOWER HOUR 10:00-11:00: For one hour the Climbing Tower will be reserved for Scouts to achieve the climbing wall activity award. The Climbing Tower will be open all day so any Scouts who are participating in a presentation will still get the opportunity to climb.
RAILROADING 10:30-12:00: Presented by Bob Henderson, railroad enthusiast and locomotive engineer for over 25 years. You will learn about railroad safety, signs and signals. During a walking tour discover the history of our railroad equipment including locomotives, both running and on display, a unique railbus and an authentic railroad covered bridge. The session will conclude with a ride on the White Mountain Central Railroad 11:30. This presentation will fulfill requirements 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8b1 & 8b2 for the Boy Scout Railroading merit badge. Please complete requirements 1, 2, and 3 as prerequisites so the merit badge councilor can sign off on your badge.
MAMMAL STUDY 1:00-2:00: Presented by Murray Clark, bear trainer and bear keeper at Clark's Trading Post. The bear keeper will cover information on the life cycle of both our captive bears and the wild bears. They will discuss age, diet, habitat and birth of the black bears. This presentation will fulfill requirements 1, 2 & 4c for the Boy Scout Mammal Study merit badge. Please complete requirements 3 & 5 as prerequisites so the merit badge councilor can sign off on your badge. The Scouts will be able to enjoy the 30-minute bear show at either 12:00 or 3:00.
GEOLOGY 2:00-3:15: Presented by Christopher Englert, Geologist and Earth Science Graduate Research Assistant at the University of New Hampshire. This geology presentation will have hands-on participation tailored to meet all badge requirements. Scouts should dress appropriately for a 45-minute walking field trip. Concepts introduced include general geology-based terminology, scales of hardness and classification of geologic specimens. The presentation will end with gemstone & fossil mining and identification. This presentation will fulfill all requirements for the Cub Scout Geology Belt loop, academic pin and the Webelo's Geologist activity badge. For Boy Scouts, please complete requirements 2, 5c1 & 5c4 as prerequisites so the merit badge councilor can sign off on your badge. There will be an additional fee of $8 per person for the geology presentation.
On June 21, the Geology presentation will be for Cub Scout and Webelo levels ONLY.
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE 3:30-4:30: Presented by Sylvia Clark, Project Engineer and Jennifer Stonecipher, Environmental Scientist. Together they own Stonecipher & Clark Environmental Solutions, a local environmental consulting business that specializes in environmental assessments, cleanups, compliance & permitting, underground storage tank removals, and visible emissions testing. This presentation will fulfill Boy Scout requirements 3b, 3c, 3d, 3f and 6 for the Environmental Science merit badge. Please complete requirements 1, 2, 4 & 5 as prerequisites so the merit badge councilor can sign off on your badge.
Other possibilities for various scouting levels:

- Tiger Cubs & Bears: visit a museum... we have five!
- Wolves: see a collection on display... we have many!
- All ranks: make something useful... dip your own candle!
